Detectives say Lam and Dong are members of a well known Asian street gang who hired Cabrales to act as a "runner" to deliver 1,000 Ecstasy capsules  Wednesday to a buyer waiting at a strip mall parking lot in the 18900 block of Gale Avenue in the unincorporated area of Rowland Heights.

However, investigators with a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department gang unit arrested Cabrales before he could complete the alleged transaction. Shortly thereafter, deputies took Lam and Dong—who were reportedly nearby monitoring the transaction—into custody.

Later that night, investigators searched Lam's and Dong's homes in the unincorporated area of Arcadia. They reportedly found a small indoor marijuana grow at Lam's house.
