Juvenile Arrested in Shooting Death

A 17-year-old is behind bars on suspicion of killing a man in unincorporated Arcadia.

Authorities have a teen in custody in connection with a shooting .

Lt. Matt Burson of the Sheriff's Department Homicide Division said deputies arrested the 17-year-old suspect without incident Sunday at 5 a.m. He was found at the home of an acquaintance near the location of the shooting.

The suspect's name was withheld because he is a juvenile.

Authorities have also not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of the family.

The shooting took place around 11:30 a.m. at Tyler Avenue and Miloann Street in North El Monte, close to the Arcadia border. The victim was taken to a local trauma center, where he later died of his wounds.

Deputies shut down southbound Second Street near Live Oak Avenue, as well as Live Oak at Santa Anita, as they searched for the suspect.

Burson said the victim was involved in an altercation earlier that day, and investigators believe the shooting may be connected to that altercation. It's unclear whether the incident was gang-related, Burson said.
