Man Convicted in Fatal Stabbing of Wife in Unincorporated San Gabriel

A jury voted last week to convict a Los Angeles man for the 2011 fatal stabbing of his estranged wife at her home in unincorporated San Gabriel.

According to a message sent out by the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, Sherman Dion Dorsey, 42, of Los Angeles, was convicted of one count of second-degree murder for the Aug. 3, 2011 killing of Gina Reano, 45. Jurors found true an allegation that Dorsey personally used a knife in the murder.

Dorsey had come to Reano's family home in the 5500 block of Walnut Grove on the pretext of delivering mail, according to witness accounts.

After several hours of talking with Reano, her sister heard a loud argument and went into the room where the pair was and saw her sister bloodied and crying, according to the D.A. statement.

Dorsey then attacked the younger sister, injuring her with a broken wine glass before continuing the attack on Reano, who was stabbed 13 times in the chest, neck and upper back, according to the statement.

Dorsey will face sentencing on October 1.
