Man Suspected of Killing His Daughter-in-Law in Arcadia Found Dead in His Cell

Authorities believe the death is a suicide.

An Arcadia man arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing his daughter-in-law was found dead of an apparent suicide at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, authorities said Friday.

Li Zhu, 68, died at the jail on Wednesday night, the sheriff's department said.

Zhu had been arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of killing 41-year-old Xiaolin Li, Arcadia police Sgt. Kollin Cieadlo said.

Officers sent to the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue about 8:25 a.m. Tuesday found the mortally wounded woman, who died at a hospital, Cieadlo said.

Zhu was arrested near the apartment.

Arcadia police Lt. Brian Ortiz said the victim and Zhu shared the apartment with the victim's husband, who was Zhu's son. The suspect had been held on $1 million bail since his arrest.
