Man Evades Police in Early-Morning Pursuit

Officers arrested Monrovia resident Daniel Hamilton on suspicion of DUI.

A Monrovia man who led Arcadia Police on a brief high-speed chase early Wednesday morning is in custody.

Authorities arrested Daniel Hamilton, 29, on suspicion of DUI and evading an officer. Hamilton is being held at the Arcadia jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

The pursuit began at 12:48 a.m., when an officer attempted to pull Hamilton over for speeding at the intersection of Duarte Road and Fifth Avenue in Arcadia. Hamilton took off north on 5th Avenue, Lt. Bob Anderson said, going as fast as 60 mph.

Minutes later, the chase ended on Bonita Street and 3rd Avenue.
