Photo Spotlight: Arcadia PD Honors Officer Killed in the Line of Duty in 1927

Albert Edward Matthies was shot and killed on July 19, 1927.

The Arcadia Police Department posted this photo to its Pinterist page Friday in honor of former officer Albert Edward Matthies, who was killed in the line of duty on July 19, 1927.

Matthies, who was a motor officer and assistant fire chief in the Arcadia Police and Fire Department, was gunned down while trying to arrest three robbers, according to the department's news blog.
