Police Blotter: Bedroom Fire

The Arcadia Police Department also assisted in a domestic violence dispute.

For the period of Aug. 26-Sept. 1, the responded to 984 calls for service, 114 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

DUI

At 1:05 a.m. on Aug. 26, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a silver Mercedes in the area of Golden West and Ardendale avenues for failing to stop at a stop sign. The officer determined the 50-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Theft From Nordstrom

At approximately 6:50 p.m., on Aug. 26 an officer responded to at the regarding a theft report. Two suspects allegedly concealed merchandise inside a bag and exited the store without paying. The 65-year-old man and 59-year-old woman were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Residential Burglary

At about 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 27, an officer responded to the 000 block of East Palm Drive regarding a residential burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) had entered the home through an unlocked bathroom window while the resident was at work and fled undetected with a flat screen television. Officers were able to locate a set of fingerprints, and further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

Credit Card Fraud

Around 11:07 a.m. on Aug. 27, an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a fraud report. The victim explained unknown suspect(s) made unauthorized charges on two of her credit card accounts. She had no idea how her personal information was compromised.

Vehicle Vandalism

At about 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 28, an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding a vandalism report. The resident discovered unknown suspect(s) made a circle-shaped scratch on the victim's BMW. No one saw or heard anything suspicious.

Collision

Shortly after 12:40 p.m. on Aug. 28, an officer responded to the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Fairview Avenue regarding a two-party traffic accident. Party-two made an illegal left turn onto westbound Fairview Avenue and was struck by oncoming traffic. An investigation revealed the intersection was under construction, left turn lanes were closed off, and temporary "No Left Turn" signs were posted. No injuries were reported.

Slashed Tires

At approximately 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 29, an officer responded to the 900 block of Fairview Avenue in reference to a vandalism report. The victim parked his vehicle in a private lot and later discovered two of his tires were slashed. He was unaware of any possible suspects.

Driving Without a License

At about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 29, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration in the area of Colorado Boulevard and Second Avenue. The driver apparently never had a license. The 38-year-old was cited and released in the field. His vehicle was impounded.

Driver Falls Into Alcohol-Induced Slumber at the Wheel

Around 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 30, officers responded to the area of Magna Vista Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue regarding a non-injury two-party traffic collision. An investigation revealed one driver fell asleep behind the wheel and swerved into another vehicle. The officer determined the 29-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Open Alcohol Containers in Vehicle

At about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 30, an officer was patrolling the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Santa Clara Street when he observed a vehicle with a broken tail light. The driver allegedly had open containers of alcohol in the center console, along with drug paraphernalia. The 56-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Outstanding Arrest Warrants

At approximately 7 a.m. on Aug. 31, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle without license plates. Officers made contact with the occupants, who reportedly provided false identifying information. However, a records check revealed each had outstanding warrants. The officer arested two women and one man and transported them to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Escaped Burglary Suspect

Around 3 p.m., officers were dispatched to at the Santa Anita Mall regarding a burglary suspect running through the parking lot. Within minutes, assisting officers detained the suspect in the 700 block of South Ranch Road. The suspect had reportedly removed his handcuffs while inside the security office, pushed a loss prevention officer and fled the store. The 18-year-old was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Domestic Violence

At about 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, officers responded to the 000 block of Warren Way regarding a disturbance inside a vehicle. An argument between a young couple reportedly resulted in the man striking the woman several times in the head. Her nose began to bleed. The 19-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Bedroom Fire

Shortly after 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 1, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Linda Way in reference to a report of a fire in a second story bedroom. The responded to the scene and determined the blaze had already been extinguished by the homeowner. No injuries were reported and investigators were unable to determine the cause of the fire.
