Police Blotter: Couple Allegedly Gets High While Caring For Infant

Police also arrested an irate pedestrian reportedly harassing motorists.

For the period of February 3-9, the Arcadia Police Department responded to 880 calls for service, 104 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Drug Paraphernalia Reportedly Found in Car

At 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 3, an officer stopped a vehicle with expired registration on Live Oak Avenue and Mayflower Avenue. The driver, who had a suspended license, also reportedly had drug paraphernalia in his car. Officers arrested the 32-year-old on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Couple Allegedly Gets High While Caring For Infant

At 10:17 p.m. on Feb. 3, officers responded to the 000 block of E. Haven regarding a verbal argument between two people. Police reportedly arrived to find a man and his girlfriend doing illegal drugs while caring for a 3-month-old infant. Officers arrested the 42-year-old man and 39-year-old woman on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. They were transported to the Arcadia City Jail for processing, and their child was released to the care and custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.

Irate Pedestrian Allegedly Harassing Motorists

At 12:28 a.m. on Feb. 4, officers responded to the 1600 block of S. Baldwin Avenue regarding a report of a pedestrian harassing motorists. Officers confronted the reportedly irate, verbally aggressive and emotionally unstable woman and determined she was under the influence and a danger to herself and others. Officers transported the 25-year-old to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for medical treatment and a 72-hour evaluation.

Residential Burglary

At 3:38 p.m., on Feb. 4, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a residential burglary. The suspect(s) had pried open a laundry room door that led into the home. The burglar(s) ransacked the bedrooms and stole jewelry. There were no surveillance cameras or witnesses.

DUI

At 3:58 a.m. on Feb. 5, officers pulled over a vehicle on Las Tunas Drive and El Monte Avenue for speeding. Officers reportedly detected the odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle and arrested the 25-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. They transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Jolie Nails Burglarized

At 6 a.m. on Feb. 5, an officer was dispatched to Jolie Nails at 160 E. Duarte Road regarding a reported burglary. The suspect(s) had broken the glass front door and ransacked the nail salon. The business owner did not notice anything missing. There were no surveillance cameras at the location.

Traffic Stop Yields Meth Arrest

At 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 6, an officer stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Mayflower and Short avenues for not complying with construction road signs. The 33-year-old driver reportedly had methamphetamine, along with drug pipes, in her car. Officers arrested her on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Felony Warrant Arrest

At 10:26 p.m. on Feb. 6, an officer stopped a vehicle on Foothill Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue for following too closely behind other vehicles. Officers arrested the 29-year-old driver on an outstanding felony warrant and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for processing.

Public Intoxication

At 2:09 p.m. on Feb. 7, an officer responded to the 700 block of W. Huntington Drive regarding a man sitting on the sidewalk. The officer reportedly smelled alcohol on the man's breath and noticed other symptoms of intoxication. The officer arrested the 54-year-old on suspicion of public intoxication.

At 4:10 p.m. on Feb. 7, officers responded to JC Penney at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall regarding a woman in custody on suspicion of theft. The woman had reportedly concealed a pair of pants in her purse and exited the store without paying for them. Officers arrested the 32-year-old on suspicion of petty theft and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for processing.

Police Arrest Drunk Woman at Pavilions

At 6:28 a.m. on Feb. 8, officers responded to the Pavilions parking lot at 745 W. Naomi Ave. regarding a drunk woman. Officers reportedly smelled alcohol on the woman's breath and observed other symptoms of intoxication. A records check revealed the 46-year-old had two outstanding warrants. Officers arrested her on suspicion of public intoxication and on the warrants before transporting her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Woman's Purse Stolen From Vehicle Parked at Children's Center

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Feb. 8, an officer was dispatched to All Seasons Children's Learning Center at 2612 S. Baldwin Ave. regarding an auto burglary. A woman reported that someone had smashed her vehicle's front passenger window and  stole her purse while she went inside the center to pick up her children.

Television Stolen From Hotel Room

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Feb. 9, officers were dispatched to Spring Hill Suites at 99 N. Second Avenue regarding a petty theft report. A guest reportedly stole a television and radio docking station from one of the hotel's rooms. There were no witnesses and no signs of the suspect(s) in the area.
 
Woman Allegedly Steals Perfume from Abercrombie

At 2:46 p.m., officers responded to Abercrombie and Fitch at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall regarding a woman in custody on suspicion of theft. She had allegedly concealed two cologne bottles in her purse and exited the store without paying for them. Police arrested the 19-year-old on suspicion of petty theft and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for processing.
