Police Blotter: DUI, Residential Burglary

Arcadia Police officers dealt with residential burglaries and a DUI, among other crimes.


For the period of Sunday, Aug. 14, through Saturday, Aug. 20, the responded to 953 calls for service, 112 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Aug. 14:

Between Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. and Aug. 12 at 10 a.m., suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of South Old Ranch Road and stole a wallet and cash.

At about 2:10 p.m., loss prevention personnel from at the detained a teenager for theft. The 14-year-old boy took merchandise, concealed it, and walked out of the store without paying. Officers arrested him for commercial burglary.

Aug. 15:

Between Aug. 14 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 15 at 7  a.m., an auto theft occurred in the 200 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Suspect(s) stole a white 1992 4-door Honda Accord parked at the location.

Between 12 p.m. and 1:10 p.m., a theft occurred in the 600 block of West Naomi Avenue. Suspect(s) stole the tailgate of a 2007 Chevy Pickup parked on the street.

Aug. 16:

Between Aug. 15 at 12:30 p.m. and Aug. 16 at 9:30 a.m., an auto burglary occurred in the 300 block of Laurel Avenue. Suspect(s) smashed the rear driver’s side window and stole a laptop and accessories.  

At about 10:46 p.m., officers responded to the at 7 East Huntington Drive, regarding a man asking for help. The 31-year-old was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. Officers placed him under arrest for being drunk in public. Due to medical problems, he was later transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

Aug. 17:

Officer pulled over a female driver at 3:07 a.m. on Baldwin Avenue north of Foothill Boulevard for failure to stop at a posted stop sign. The officer noticed the smell of alcohol while speaking with the driver during the stop. The officer conducted a field sobriety test and arrested her for D.U.I.

Between Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. and Aug. 18 at 7 a.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 1100 block of South First Avenue. Suspect(s) removed the front gate of a property under construction by taking it off the hinges. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole several tools.

At about 3:45 p.m., units were dispatched to the 200 block of Longley Way regarding reported graffiti. The east wall of the property, as well as two other nearby locations, were spray painted with the word “One”.

Between 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., an auto theft occurred at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall parking lot. Suspect(s) stole a black, 2-door, 1994 Honda Civic.

Aug. 19:

At approximately 10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Peck Road and Rio Hondo Parkway for a broken brake light. A consensual search of the vehicle revealed an illegal switch blade knife for which a 19-year-old man was placed under arrest.

Between Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. and Aug. 19 at 7:10 a.m., an auto burglary occurred in the 200 block of Longley Way. Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by unknown means and stole a laptop and tote bag.

Aug. 20:

At approximately 3:38 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Baldwin Longden avenues. The driver was observed swerving in the roadway. Officers placed the 41-year-old man under arrest for D.U.I.

At about 12 p.m., loss prevention personnel from at the Westfield Santa Anita Mall detained a 67-year-old woman for theft. She had taken merchandise, concealed it, and walked out of the store without paying. Officers arrested her for theft.
