Police Blotter: Kid Reportedly Attacks Father Over Video Games

The Arcadia Police Department also dealt with an alleged drunken driver who hit two cars and attempted to flee authorities via the Albertsons parking lot.

For the period of June 10-16, the responded to 898 calls for service, 136 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Drugs, Related Paraphernalia, Reportedly Found in Car

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on June 10, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a white GMC Suburban at Floral and First avenues for expired registration. The officer reportedly determined the driver also had a suspended license and was in possession of a controlled substance, along with related paraphernalia. The 42-year-old suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Around 4:53 p.m. on June 10, an officer responded to Easy Spirit at the regarding a theft report. Unknown suspect(s) allegedly opened a woman's purse and removed her wallet while she was trying on a pair of shoes. She had placed her purse on the floor and turned her back momentarily. The suspect(s) fled undetected. 

Identity Theft

At 8:06 a.m. on June 11, the department received an online report regarding an identity theft. The victim explained he has been living abroad since 2007 and recently discovered his old Arcadia address has been receiving an increasing amount of mail in his name. A credit check revealed unknown suspect(s) opened several unauthorized credit card accounts using the victim's personal information.

Car Sideswipes Another

Shortly after 1:50 p.m. on June 11, officers responded to Las Tunas Drive and Baldwin Avenue regarding a two-party traffic accident. While traveling on Las Tunas Drive, Party 2 slowed down to make a right turn into a parking lot when she was sideswiped by Party 1. An investigation revealed Party 1 attempted to pass Party 2 on the left side, but did not have sufficient clearance. No injuries were reported.

Assault Report Leads to Warrant, Drug Arrrests

Around 4:30 p.m. on June 12, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and the 210 freeway. Someone had reported seeing a man strike a woman in the back seat of the vehicle. While the assault allegation was unfounded, the 36-year-old passenger had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The officer also reportedly found the 28-year-old driver in possession of narcotics. Both were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Drunken Driver Hits Two Vehicles, Attempts to Flee Officers

At approximately 8:45 p.m. on June 12, officers responded to a traffic collision in the area of Live Oak Avenue and Sixth Avenue. The vehicles had collided while traveling west on Live Oak Avenue. One of the drivers reportedly fled the scene. He then pulled into the parking lot at 298 East Live Oak Avenue. As he exited the parking lot, he hit a vehicle parked on East Live Oak. Officers reportedly determined the 57-year-old was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. No injuries were reported.
   
Teen Banned From Video Games Attacks Father

At about 12 p.m. on June 13, officers responded to the 000 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a battery in progress. A teen allegedly physically attacked his father, who had restricted him from playing video games. The teen had already fled the scene when officers arrived at his home. The responded and treated the father's injuries. The teen's mother later brought him into the Arcadia Police Department. The 17-year-old was arrested, booked and transported to the Eastlake Juvenile Detention Center. The case was forwarded to the Department of Children and Family Services for further investigation.

Theft at Macy's   

At approximately 2:35 p.m. on June 13, officers were dispatched to at the Santa Anita Mall regarding a theft report. A woman had allegedly concealed merchandise inside her purse and exited the store without paying. The 44-year-old was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

D.U.I

Shortly after 1:45 a.m. on June 14, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee for speeding and lane swerving in the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. The officer reportedly determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol and had a blood alcohol level greater than .08 percent. The 24-year-old woman was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Garage Burglary

Between 1:05 a.m. and 12 p.m., unknown suspect(s) burglarized a garage in the 100 block of Fano Street. The suspect(s) removed the DVD and GPS systems from the vehicle, along with its wheels, before fleeing undetected. The victim realized he left his garage and vehicle unlocked.

Methamphetamine Arrest

At about 2 p.m. on June 15, an officer contacted a man at at 225 Colorado Place regarding an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer reportedly determined the 46-year-old suspect was also in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Disgruntled Former Employee Allegedly Vandalises Restaurant

Around 2:51 p.m. on June 15,  officers responded to the Orleans Corner Restaurant at 411 East Huntington Drive regarding a vandalism report. A disgruntled former employee visited the location to pick-up his last paycheck. Afterwards, he allegedly broke an outdoor patio chair by throwing it onto the ground before fleeing the scene.

Man Exposes Self to Woman

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on June 16, a woman was walking northbound in the 700 block of South First Avenue when a black compact vehicle pulled alongside her. As the victim turned her head towards the vehicle, she reportedly observed a man exposing himself and masturbating. The suspect, described as having dark short hair and wearing dark clothing, fled north.  An area check for the suspect was unsuccessful.

Burglary Suspects Helps Self to Victim's Shower, Kitchen

At about 3:20 p.m. on June 16, an officer responded to the 1000 block of West Duarte Road regarding a burglary investigation. The victim explained she returned home and attempted to open her front door, but the interior security chain had been fastened, blocking her entry. As she walked toward the side of her apartment, the victim discovered her bedroom window screen removed and a window open. The victim entered her residence through the window and discovered an . The victim yelled at the woman, who then exited the bathroom, grabbed the victim's car keys and fled. The suspect is described as a black woman, approximately 40-years-old, 5-feet-11, 170 pounds with flower tattoos on both sides of her face. She wore a blue or green t-shirt and capri pants. The suspect also reportedly used the victim's kitchen and ransacked the bedroom. No additional property was reported missing.
