Police Blotter: Residential Burglaries, Stabbing Victims

The following arrest information was supplied by the Arcadia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

For the period of July 3 through July 9, the responded to 947 calls for service of which 119 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, July 3

DUI arrest

About 12:48 a.m., a traffic stop was made at Live Oak Avenue and Mayflower Avenue for an unsafe lane change.  An investigation revealed that the 26-year-old Latino female was under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

At about 1:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to the , 130 West Huntington Drive, in response to a report of a male down. Upon arrival, officers contacted the 58-year-old Latino male who was lying on the ground and smelled of alcohol.  A check in the records system revealed an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.  He was placed under arrest for the warrant and for being drunk in public.

Monday, July 4

Arrest near REI

Shortly after 2 a.m., officers responded to , 214 North Santa Anita Ave., regarding suspicious circumstances.  Three male subjects were reported looking into the bushes with flashlights. Officers responded and contacted the subjects,  a record check of the subjects revealed that one of them, a 39-year-old white male, had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and he was placed under arrest.

Schizophrenic cited for vandalism

At about 11:30 p.m., units were dispatched to the 800 block of West Foothill Boulevard regarding a vandalism.  Officers were advised that a male subject had vandalized a vehicle with a knife.  He was reported as still being at the location and in possession of a knife.  The 30-year-old Asian male was contacted and the knife was removed from his possession.  An investigation revealed the suspect suffered from schizophrenia.  He was cited for the vandalism and released.

Tuesday, July 5

Teen robbed of bicycle

Shortly after 3 p.m., officers responded to the lobby of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a robbery report.  The victim, a 15-year-old male, told the officers that on July 4 at about 8:45 p.m., he was riding a friend’s bicycle on Second Avenue and Bonita Avenue.  An Asian male, approximately 5’06”, 120 pounds and in his mid 20’s, approached him.  The suspect produced a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and stole the bike.  A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

Storage facility burglarized

Between April 14 at 12 a.m. and July 5 at 3 p.m., a commercial burglary occurred at Public Storage, 12340 Lower Azusa Road.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the location by prying open the door of a rental unit.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a radio, CD’s and a CD tower.

Wednesday, July 6

Glasses, clothes stolen from car

Between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., a vehicle burglary occurred in the 500 block of East Live Oak Avenue.  Unknown suspect(s) manipulated the front passenger door through a partially open window and entered the car.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole prescription glasses, clothing and two parking permits.

Laptop stolen from home

Between July 6 at 6 p.m. and July 7 at 8:30 a.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 700 block of East Winnie Way.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the location through an unlocked window.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a laptop.

Thursday, July 7

Briefcase, watch stolen from home

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 300 block of Danimere Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) forced open a sliding glass door and entered the residence.  Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked several rooms and stole a briefcase and a watch.

Suspects take floor safe from home

Between 1 p.m. and 2:20 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of Elevado Avenue.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through unknown means.  Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked the master bedroom and stole a floor safe containing cash, jewelry and documents, as well as a laptop.

Friday, July 8

Fake checks lead to arrest

At about 5:45 p.m., officers responded to , 140 East Live Oak Ave., regarding a suspect attempting to pass a fictitious check.  Officers located the suspect, a 38-year-old black female, and confirmed the traveler’s check was fraudulent.  An investigation revealed additional fraudulent checks in the suspect’s vehicle and a record check revealed an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.  The suspect was arrested for passing a fictitious check, commercial burglary, and the warrant.

Vehicle taken from Santa Anita Mall

Between 6:30 p.m. and 7:50 p.m., a vehicle was stolen from the Westfield Santa Anita Mall parking structure, 400 South Baldwin Avenue.  Unknown suspect(s) gained access and stole a Grey, 2002, GMC, Yukon Denali.

Saturday, July 9

Fight leads to three stabbing victims

At about 2:26 p.m., officers responded to the , 838 East Duarte Road, regarding a fight.  Dispatch advised that five male Asian subjects were seen hitting and kicking one subject after pulling him out of a BMW.  Officers were met by the reporting party who told them that the suspects involved had left the location eastbound in two separate vehicles.  Shortly after, dispatch further advised that several male Asian subjects in their 20’s had arrived at a local Hospital with stab wounds.  A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau. 

Gaming equipment, handbags stolen

Between 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Burnell Oaks Lane.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through a rear master bedroom window.  Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked the residence and stole cash, several handbags, shoes, a Playstation and a PSP.
