Police Blotter: Stabbing, DUIs

Also, a mother is accused of stealing items from Macy's and concealing them in her baby's stroller.

For the period of Aug. 19-25, the responded to 937 calls for service, 108 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Stabbing at Eisenhower Park

At 1:07 a.m. on Aug. 19, officers responded to , regarding a in the emergency room. The victim stated that while he was jogging at at 601 North Second Ave. The victim told police he overheard an argument between two people and attempted to intervene. As he jogged away, a man allegedly approached the victim from behind and stabbed him numerous times. The victim ran to his vehicle, drove home and had his family take him to the hospital. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Pool House Burglarized

At approximately 2 p.m. on Aug. 19, an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Hacienda Drive regarding a residential burglary report. The victim discovered unknown suspect(s) entered the pool house through a bathroom window. The suspect ransacked the location and fled undetected. The loss was unknown at the time of the report. 

Stolen Purse

At about 12 p.m. on Aug. 20, unknown suspect(s) stole a purse at at the . The victim accidentally left her purse at the store register. However, when she returned to retrieve it, the purse was gone. No one saw or heard anything suspicious. 

Driving With a Suspended License

Around 11:28 p.m. on Aug. 20, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a stop sign violation in the area of Camino Real and Mayflower avenues. The officer discovered the driver had a suspended license. The 21-year-old was cited and released in the field, while his vehicle was released to a friend.

DUI

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Aug. 21, an officer stopped a vehicle on First Avenue, north of Haven Avenue, for not having a rear license plate. The officer reportedly noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver's breath and person. The 31-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Residential Burglary

At about 1:53 p.m. on Aug. 21, an officer responded to the 400 block of West Norman Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. A man posing as a construction worker had asked to check the sanitation of the resident's water. The victim agreed and reportedly watched the suspect walk through the residence. Shortly after, the suspect led the victim to the backyard where they held a lengthy conversation. After the suspect left, the victim discovered someone had entered the home through the front door, ransacked the bedrooms and stolen property such as cash and jewelry. Suspect one is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 30-years-old, 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, with short black hair. He sported black studded earrings.

Hollywood Noodle Robbed

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 22, officers were dispatched to Hollywood Noodle at 48 East Live Oak Avenue regarding an activated alarm. An unknown suspect(s) forced entry through a window and fled undetected with approximately $500. 

Assault

At about 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 22, an officer responded to regarding a fight between two men. One of the men reportedly punched a security guard who attempted to break up the fight in the face. The 20-year-old suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

DUI

Around 2:40 a.m. on Aug. 23, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a black Mercedes in the area of El Monte Avenue and Campus Drive for making illegal lane changes. The 25-year-old driver was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Officers arrested her and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Mountain Bike Stolen

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 23, an officer responded to at 679 West Duarte Road regarding a theft report. An employee discovered her mountain bicycle was missing. She had reportedly locked it to a light pole near the side of the business.

Intoxicated Man Passes Out in Parking Lot

At about 6:42 p.m. on Aug. 24, an officer was dispatched to the parking lot of regarding an unconscious man. The man was reportedly highly intoxicated and unable to care for himself. Officers arrested the 23-year-old and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Alcohol Theft

At approximately 8:11 p.m. on Aug. 24, an officer was dispatched to at 16 East Live Oak Avenue regarding a reported theft. A man had allegedly concealed a bottle of alcohol inside his pants and exited the store without paying. The theft suspect also reportedly provided false information to police. However, a fingerprint check revealed he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Officers arrested the 22-year-old and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail.

Suspected DUI Falls Asleep at Wheel

At 4:08 p.m. on Aug. 25, officers responded to the intersection of Holly Avenue and Las Tunas Drive regarding a man asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. The 43-year-old had allegedly driven while under the influence. Officers arrested him and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. His vehicle was impounded.

Mother Allegedly Conceals Shoplifted Items in Stroller

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Aug. 25, officers responded to Macy's regarding a theft report. A woman had reportedly concealed merchandise inside her baby's stroller and exited the store without paying. An investigation revealed she was in possession of burglary tools. Officers arrested the 32-year-old and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
