The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating a homicide near the outskirts of Arcadia.

11:53 p.m. Sheriff's homicide detectives were searching for a man who shot and killed a man in his home in unincorporated Arcadia Monday night after the victim and his family returned from an outing around 8 p.m.

Sheriff's Lt. Eddie Hernandez, a detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide unit, told Patch that the victim is a Hispanic male, aged 35, who was returning home in the 11000 block of Kristi Court with his wife and three children around 8 p.m. to find an intruder, described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic man in his mid to late 30s.

The gunman pointed a weapon at the couple and their children--a boy of
3, one who's 5 and a 6-year-old girl--and demanded money, City News Service reported.

According to Hernandez, the intruder ordered the wife and children into a separate room and remained with the victim. The wife and kids told investigators they heard two to four gunshots.

They came out of the bedroom after the intruder had fled to discover the victim with gunshot wounds. It does not appear that either the wife or children were harmed.
