UPDATED: Shooting Victim Dies

Shooting reported in North El Monte, deputies have a containment set up and are watching certain Arcadia intersections.

UPDATED, 3:12 p.m.: The victim in Saturday's shooting has died from his wounds, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:49 a.m., according to Deputy Guillermina Saldana with the Sheriff's Department. Detectives with the Homicide Bureau are in the 5200 block of Tyler Avenue conducting an investigation. Authorities are confident there is only one suspect in the shooting, but there could be more, said Lieutenant McBride of the Temple Sheriff's Station.

Authorities are also unsure of how many suspect vehicles there many be involved.

PREVIOUSLY: Deputies from the Temple Sheriff's Station are attempting to locate a shooting suspect who fled from the area of Tyler Avenue and Miloann Street in North El Monte Saturday close to the Arcadia border.

Scanner reports indicated deputies have southbound Second Street shut down near Live Oak Avenue, as well as Live Oak at Santa Anita.

The shooting happened in North El Monte around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Authorities received a call of around three to four shots fired in that area of Arcadia County. When deputies arrived, they found one male adult victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound, said Sergeant Murray Simpkins of the Temple Sheriff's Station.

The victim was transported to an area trauma center, Simpkins said.

Deputies from the East Los Angeles as well as the Pico stations are assisting with the search. Authorities have a wide containment area set up as deputies have received conflicting information about the direction the suspect fled.
