Suspect Arrested in Series of SGV Armed Robberies

A man suspected of robbing several throughout the San Gabriel Valley—including the location in the 200 block of East Live Oak Ave. in Arcadia--was arrested June 16 at a gas station in El Monte, the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department announced Monday.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office filed nine counts of Armed Robbery against the suspect Anselmo Rincon, 32, of El Monte, at El Monte Superior Courthouse on Monday, according to a statement issued by Sheriff’s Department officials. 

Arcadia personnel were able to tentatively identify the suspect through the use of departmental resources, Arcadia Police said in a separate statement.

Rincon allegedly robbed the . Police said he is also a suspect in two other robberies that occurred that afternoon in El Monte and Temple City.

A replica firearm allegedly used by Rincon to commit the robberies--which police said were conducted primarily at Subway restaurants and dry cleaning stores--was found in the car he used at the time of his arrest, authorities said.

In addition to the , Sheriff's Department detectives also teamed with the Covina and El Monte Police Departments to identify and arrest the suspect, according to authorities.

"This collaborative effort to arrest Rincon has taken a dangerous criminal off the streets of our communities," said Sheriff's Lieutenant Chris Brackpool in a statement. "His robberies were becoming more frequent in recent days and the danger he presented was escalating."

Rincon is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, authorities said. A date for his preliminary hearing, which will take place at Pomona Superior Courthouse, has not been set at this time, according to authorities.
