Updated: Teen Cyclist Struck by Car Has Moderate Injuries

The boy reportedly did not have a helmet on.

Update: The Arcadia Police Department accident investigation team is still determining the cause of the collision involving a motorist and teenage cyclist, according to Lt. Bob Anderson.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Kevin Valentine said the 15-year-old, who suffered moderate injuries, was not wearing a helmet as required by state law for minors.

The driver of the vehicle did not have any injuries, though the collision caused damage to the hood, windshield and roof of the car.

Original: A teenage cyclist is in the hospital after a car struck him Monday shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The accident took place on the 1200 block of 10th Avenue. Arcadia Fire Department Battalion Chief Kevin Valentine said his paramedic crews transported the teen to Huntington Memorial Hospital.
