A 16-year-old girl was killed Sunday night after being struck by a car as she tried to cross Duarte Road around 6:40 p.m., police said.
The Los Angeles Coroner's Office identified the girl as Alice Zhang of Arcadia. Zhang was a junior at Arcadia High School.
A second 16-year-old girl also hit by the vehicle--which was traveling westbound in the 600 block of west Duarte Road—was treated at the scene then taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to a released statement by Lt. Bob Anderson of the Arcadia Police Department.
Police are not holding the 20-year-old Arcadia man who was the driver of the vehicle that struck the two girls.
