For anyone who may have missed some of this week's Patch stories, here are a few items that topped SGV-area Patch sites:

  • Readers shared plenty of opinions through a pair of Patch polls. One dealt with lawmakers' reintroduction of a bill that would ban more than 100 different types of assault weapons. If you have an opinion on it, you can join in the discussion. You can join the discussion here.
  • Monrovia Patch has been full of political coverage recently, culminating with the city council's decision to move forward with elections in April. The decision came after residents voiced the pros and cons of putting a pair of open council seats up for a vote. Thursday's special council meeting also included discussion on the sudden resignation of Clarence Shaw.
  • A hiker discovered a woman's dead body in the San Gabriel Mountains north of Glendora on Thursday. Authorities have yet to release any information about the woman's identity. The exact location of the body has been described as East Fork Road and Prairie Ford Road in the Angeles National Forest.
  • South Pasadena Police on Monday arrested Feng Xian of Arcadia on suspicion of fraud. Police say Xian, 21, had attempted to use a fake credit card to purchase three gift cards from Ralphs in South Pas back on Jan. 15. Nervous that the clerk was suspicious, Xian left the fake card and his driver's license and left the store. Back at Xian's residence, police found more than 200 fraudulent credit cards, credit card manufacturing equipment including skimmers and embossers, cash, and a computer.
