UPDATED: Vehicle Collision Injures Cyclist
The bicyclist reportedly did not have proper lighting equipment.
UPDATED, Dec. 16, 2:44 p.m.: The bicyclist injured in a collision Saturday night reportedly was not using lighting equipment for nighttime riding, said Lieutenant Mike Castro.
The driver observed the stop sign at the intersection and stopped. The bicyclist was approaching, but the driver could not see the rider and struck him, Castro said.
An updated condition of the rider was not available.
PREVIOUSLY: A 56-year-old cyclist struck by a car Saturday night is recovering from his injuries at a local hospital. The collision occurred shortly before 7:40 p.m. near the intersection of South Second and East Magna Vista avenues.
The cause of the collision was not immediately known, as police were still investigating.
