UPDATED: Suspect in Campground Shooting Identified; Search Is On

Authorities are looking for Kevin Pochter, 53, in connection with the fatal shooting of an Arcadia man Thursday night.

Sheriff’s detectives and local authorities are searching for a 53-year-old Kevin Pochter, a suspect in the killing of Dean Albert of Arcadia, the 55-year-old victim of a fatal .

A release from the L.A. County Sheriff's Headquarters describes Pochter, a Huntington Beach resident, at about 6 feet and 175 pounds, bald and with blue eyes. He was reportedly last seen hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains above the cities of Arcadia and Monrovia on Saturday evening. Authorities said he is to be considered armed and dangerous.

The search has involved deputies from Crescenta Valley, Temple, and San Dimas sheriff's stations as well as officers from Arcadia, Sierra Madre and Monrovia Police Departments. More than 62 square miles have been covered.

Albert was collapsed but still breathing when he was found. He was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. Albert and Pochter are reportedly lifelong friends.

The sheriff's department said that Albert's car, a silver BMW, had been taken from the scene and later found Saturday morning at Mount Wilson Observatory in the San Gabriel Mountains. Witnesses recognized the vehicle, and deputies recovered it.
