Wet Weather Causes 4 Vehicle Collisions in Arcadia

Public safety officials urge motorists to drive with extra caution.

The first storm of the season contributed to four vehicle collisions Wednesday morning in , the reported. The collisions resulted in only one minor injury. Lt. Paul Foley urged drivers to take extra precautions in the wet weather.

Long periods of dry weather before rains in Southern California can make the roads especially slick and dangerous when the rain finally comes.

"We go so long without rain that oil accumulates on our roadways," Foley said. "We have a lot of spinouts, cars sliding into the back of one another, things like that."

Periods of gusty winds will likely accompany the rainfall.

Meanwhile, motorists can avoid accidents by exercising patience, planning ahead for longer commute times and increasing their distance from other cars.

Also, don't forget one important rule.

"Whenever your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be on," Foley said.
