Second Defendant Sentenced in Shooting Range Robbery and Chase

The woman pleaded guilty to eight counts, including second-degree commercial burglary and robbery, shooting at an occupied aircraft and other charges.

Martinez, who was the second defendant in the case, was sentenced at Pomona Superior Court by Judge George Genesta, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

Earlier this year, Martinez pleaded guilty to eight counts, including second-degree commercial burglary and robbery, evading an officer, shooting at an occupied aircraft and possession of an assault weapon, according to a statement from the DA's office.

The second defendant in the case, 28-year-old Trevor Bakgwan Kuk of Arcadia, was sentenced last week to 45 years and eight months, according to statement from the DA’s office.

Both criminal cases stem from a Aug. 16 break in at the Burro Canyon Shooting Range in Azusa , were the pair allegedly stole gun parts and tools.

According to officials, the duo fled the crime scene in a pickup truck when an employee caught them in the act. During their flee attempt from authorities, shots were fired from the truck while Kuk and Martinez were inside the vehicle.

Kuk, who was driving the truck, led Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies on a 40 minute chase through the San Gabriel Valley, shooting a Mac-10 type machine pistol at deputies and a sheriff's helicopter, according to officials. No one was injured during the chase. The pursuit came to an end on the 10 Freeway.

Kuk was convicted by a jury Feb. 27 of – one count each of second-degree commercial burglary; evading an officer; shooting at an occupied aircraft; second-degree robbery; and possession of an assault weapon; and two counts of assault weapon on a peace officer, according to the DA’s office.
