Arcadia May Get Elias J. 'Lucky' Baldwin Statue
The City Council will consider approving the donation of a bronze likeness of Baldwin tonight.
The great, great granddaughter of Arcadia founder Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin, hopes to donate a bronze statue of the flashy businessman and city founder.
Margaux Viera will commission the statue itself if the agrees to cover the costs of a pedestal and other accoutrements. The Council will discuss the issue tonight.
The costs incurred by the city could total up to $32,500, and would include the construction and installation of a pedestal and plaque for the statue, along with lighting and landscaping.

Arcadia has a trust fund for public art, established by Westfield as part of the deal the firm struck with the city to expand the . The money for the city's portion of the statue may come from this fund.
The 9-foot-tall, $60,000 statue would likely find a home in the rose garden.

In other business, the council will also discuss the establishment of a Business Improvement District to guide growth and renovations of downtown Arcadia.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the City Council Council at 240 W. Huntington Drive.
