Arcadia Accepts $1.28M Bid to Upgrade City Hall

Avi-Con, located in Riverside, was the second lowest bidder for construction of energy efficient retrofits to City Hall.

The initial lowest bidder, Morillo Construction, Inc., withdrew its bid of $1,244,000 stating that a clerical formula error resulted in a miscalculation of the bid cost.

With a bid of $1,283,000 by Avi-Con, the improvements will include an upgrade to the existing heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system; new ceiling insulation; and installation of energy-efficient windows.

In August 2009, the U.S. Department of Energy approved an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant application and awarded the city $534,700 to make energy efficient improvements to City Hall. Last year, it was determined other improvements needed to be made, including new sprinklers, lighting fixtures and asbestos removal.
