Get Free Legal Advice at the Arcadia Library

Arcadia Law Day will be held Saturday.

From a City of Arcadia press release.

The City of Arcadia and the have planned a free Ask-a‐Lawyer program to take place Saturday at the Arcadia Public Library.

Lawyers will remain on hand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to provide general advice on a walk‐up basis, and — where appropriate — provide referrals to legal or governmental organizations.

The event is part of the nationwide Law Day celebration.

Receive one-on-one advice regarding issues such as immigration, consumer rights, landlord/tenant disputes, insurance problems, property, family law, bankruptcy, government benefits, employee rights, workers’ compensation and personal injury.

However, the volunteer lawyers cannot accept any cases from those they counsel. Informational brochures and pamphlets are available as additional legal resources.

Since financial questions often arise in correlation with legal issues, financial advisors will also make themselves available at Law Day to give expert advice in the areas of taxes, real estate, investment and financial planning.

“In these economic times, the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Chinese Association thought that the public could truly benefit from not only answers to legal questions, but also financial questions that undoubtedly surface,” event chairperson and Council Member Gary Kovacic said.

Participants are encouraged to bring any information pertinent to their case so the attorney or financial expert can give the most accurate and reliable advice.

No reservations are required for this free service and everyone is welcome to attend.

In addition, volunteers from the ACA will provide event‐day coordination and language translation services in Mandarin and Cantonese. Translation services in other languages may also be available.

For more information, please call Arcadia City Hall at 574‐5460

The library is at 20 West Duarte Road in Arcadia.
