Judge Allows Tran to Retract Bribery Guilty Plea

An attorney for John Tran has accused the primary informant in the case of fraud and of using numerous aliases.

A jury will decide whether former 49th Assembly candidate John Tran is guilty of accepting more than $10,000 in bribes from a real estate developer while serving on the Rosemead City Council.

Questioning the credibility of an FBI informant, Tran, who ended his campaign upon his February arrest, filed a motion to rescind his guilty plea, and a federal judge approved the request Monday, the Pasadena Star-News reported.

Tran faced ten years in prison in a plea bargain he brokered in March.
