Supes Vote to Promote Parking Program for Veterans

The county unanimously approved sending out letters to all the cities in Los Angeles County encouraging them to adopt a program that provides free parking to veterans in metered areas.

Every city in the county will soon be getting letters signed by county supervisors encouraging them to follow the county’s ordinance exempting military veterans from paying metered parking fees.

Supervisor Michael Antonovich proposed sending the letters to all 88 cities in the county in the hopes of getting them to adopt the provisions of the bill. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved that motion unanimously on Wednesday.

In 2008, the State of California passed Assembly Bill 190 that permits counties and cities to exempt military veterans with the following license plates from paying metered parking:

  • Pearl Harbor Survivor
  • Legion of Valor
  • Former American Prisoner of War (POW)
  • Congressional Medal of Honor
  • Purple Heart

The motion also requests the CEO send a letter to the Governor requesting that the California Department of Motor Vehicles publish a list of counties and cities that currently honor the parking exemption, post the list on the DMV website and provide an updated list annually to all veterans who have registered plates that qualify for the parking exemption, county officials said.

First off, I want to take this Veteran's Day opportunity to thank you for your 10 years of service to our country. You are exactly the kind of person that I am glad we want to honor and provide financial assistance to. I agree that combat wounded veterans are especially worth our respect. When I read the original article, it looks like the free parking is limited to persons who qualify for special license plates, such at those who have received purple hearts. I don't think it applies to anyone who has ever served, but I may be wrong. I know what your are saying about political gamesmanship in our California State Legislature. I have implemented in my personal voting policy that I will never vote for an incumbent for my districts for Assembly or State Senate until I think Sacramento is working. I also agree with you that California should be doing as much as possible to reduce oil dependence. I don't want the members of our military to risk their lives for oil or oil profits. I hope that our federal government does take more action, and more effective action, to reduce foreign oil dependence. Talking about what the federal government should do, I also hope that take action to provide medical and mental health care for our veterans in a timely and effective way. -->>As far as language use goes, I am sure that an intelligent person like yourself can come up with extreme and attention-getting language without sexual meanings.

Something is wrong with the above post. it is saying something about Mexico and congress, but it is full of links that look like links to coach outlet stores. I am afraid they are probably bad links that might infect a computer. Because of that, I am clicking on the above post by hayes as inappropriate.

I flagged the above post by hayes as inappropriate again. It must go to an automatic system, not a real person. Some spammer has figured out the system on this website. I recommend no one click on any of those weird links.
