Verizon Cell Tower Approved by City Council

Verizon to install communications facility at Camino Grove Park.

The Arcadia City Council unanimously approved a site lease at its Tuesday night meeting that would allow Verizon Wireless to install a wireless communications facility at Camino Grove Park.

According to the staff report presented by Tom Tait, Public Works service director, Verizon will lease approximately 745 square feet at Camino Grove Park, 1410 S. Sixth Avenue, which is City-owned property and requires a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) which the Development Services Department will present as part of its upcoming presentation to the Planning Commission.

The facility will include a 55-foot high cell tower on the Southeast corner which will be camouflaged as a pine tree (monopine) in hopes it will blend in with the mature trees in the area.

An architectural design was approved by the Planning Commission on April 12. This will be the seventh tower to be installed on City-owned property. A similar facility leased by T-Mobile installed in Orange Grove Park generates approximately $27,500 annually in revenue for the City.

According to Tait, there were no concerns raised from neighbors in the area.
