4 Arcadia High Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

The athletes will attend Yale and the University of North Texas, among other schools.

Four standout athletes at Arcadia High School have signed national letters of intent to play sports for some of the nation's top colleges.

Melody Chang will play basketball for Claremont McKenna College under new Head Coach Kristen Dowling. As a senior, Chang led the Apaches to their first Pacific League title since 1979. Chang said she chose Claremont because it is one of the top ten liberal arts college in the nation and because of Dowling's reputation.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Lai signed on to play golf for Yale University and Bryan Shin signed on to play golf for UC Irvine.

"Both [Lai and Shin] are tremendous young men," Arcadia Head Coach Robert Greep told Patch. "Their work ethic both in classroom and on the course has paid dividends in their success with golf. It's young men like this two kids that makes my job as a coach extremely rewarding. They've been excellent roll models for our underclassmen."

And completing the quartet is Mackenzie Grimes, who has signed a letter of intent to play Division 1 softball for the University of North Texas.
