Alumni Mourn Souders Online

Former Superintendent Elb Souders is remembered for his kindness towards students.

Arcadia Unified School District alumni took to the Internet to express their grief over the death of former Superintendent Elbert "Elb" Souders, who died Monday at age 94.

The popular administrator, who rose through the ranks from Arcadia High School principal to the district's top job, is remembered for his kindness towards students.

"We all loved him. RIP," wrote Lael Livengood Blocker on the alumni Facebook page, You Know You're From Old School Arcadia If You Remember...

"He was a good man," Drue Wagner-mees recalled.

Barry Luboviski echoed Wagner-mees' sentiment.

"He was a very good man and a very fine principal," Luboviski wrote.

A memorial service for Souders will take place March 16 at 3 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd on the corner of Duarte Road and Holly Avenue in Arcadia. He has already been buried, so this will be a service only.
