Arcadia Students Lose Ground in Math Proficiency

The California Department of Education released the STAR results Friday.

Students in the made gains in their English and Language Arts skill levels, but fell slightly behind in math, according to California Standards Tests results released Friday.

They were amongst approximately 4.7 million students who participated in the 2012 Standardized Testing and Reporting program, according to the California Department of Education.

In English and Language Arts, 85.4 percent of Arcadia students scored proficient or advanced — up from 83.9 percent last year. In math, 82. 1 percent of students scored proficient or advanced — down from 82.4 percent last year.

Still, AUSD students performed well above the state average. In math, just 51 percent of students statewide tested at proficient or advanced, while 57 percent tested at proficient or advanced in English and Language Arts.
