The team will go on to compete at the National Ocean Sciences Bowl in Milwaukee, Wis. next month.

Arcadia High School beat out 18 other schools to win the JPL Surf Bowl on Saturday.

The team will go on to compete against 24 other regional champions from across the nation at the National Ocean Sciences Bowl in Milwaukee, Wis. on April 18.

The theme for this year’s competition, which is designed to foster the next generation of marine scientists, researchers and environmental advocates, is “The Great Lakes: A Window Into Freshwater Science.”

The competition uses a game show format combined with multiple-choice and short-answers questions to test students' knowledge of biology, physics, chemistry, geology and math.

The National Ocean Sciences Bowl is a program of the nonprofit Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education, based in Washington, D.C.

Other high schools that competed include: La Cañada, Crescenta Valley, Pasadena, San Dimas, West Covina, Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Peninsula.
