Arcadia Thespians Win Big at Regional Drama Competition

Arcadia High School drama students took nine awards at the Drama Teachers of Southern California Fall Drama Festival.

The Arcadia High School Theater Department took nine awards at the Drama Teachers of Southern California fall drama festival in Perris, Calif. The troop competed Oct. 27 against thespians representing 74 schools from across Southern California.

"The DTASC Festival was a fabulous event — with more schools participating than have for the last 20 years," DTASC Executive Vice President Christine Kolb said.

Arcadia students won awards in everything from set and costume design to writing plays for social change.

"This is a tribute to [department director] Steven Volpe, his musical director Dr. Stephen Pu and all the coaches who made this possible in combination with the hard work, talent and discipline of all the Advanced Drama students," Drama parent Bill Clark said.
