Girls' Basketball: Apaches Win First Round CIF Playoff Game

The Apache girls' basketball team will move on to the second round of the CIF D 1AA playoffs after defeating Summit High School 85-52 on Saturday at Arcadia High School.

Box scores obtained from MaxPreps show Arcadia held its own against the Fontana-based SkyHawks throughout Saturday's matchup, dominating every quarter.

"We won big," Arcadia Coach Don Young said. "We had a great crowd and the girls were really excited."

Player of the Game Julissa Aguirre—a senior at Arcadia—scored 29 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block, according to MaxPreps.

The team finishing first in the Pacific League with a 22-4 record. The Apache girls' basketball program has not held a league title since 1979, and has never won 22 games in a season.

On Feb. 20, the Apaches will face Fullerton's Troy High School, which is ranked 25th in the nation and ninth in the state. Arcadia is ranked 102 in the state.
