Lorie Felippa, a transitional kindergarten teacher at Highland Oaks Elementary School, has been named one of Los Angeles County's Teachers of the Year and has been nominated for a statewide award as California Teacher of the Year, according to a press release sent out by the Arcadia Unified School District.
Felippa, pictured above, is one of 71 teachers in the county (where there are roughly 80,000 teachers employed) to receive the award. Just 16 of those 71 were nominated for the state award.
