Oops, They Did it Again: Girls' Soccer Team Wins Consecutive League Titles

Despite a rocky start, the Apaches finished the season with a 13-6-2 record.

The Arcadia High School girls' soccer team defeated rival Crescenta Valley twice to clinch the Apaches' second Pacific League Championship in as many years.

"Coming into the season, we had very high expectations, although finding our identity in the beginning was difficult," Arcadia Head Coach Ryen Piszyk told Patch. "From last year, we graduated 10 seniors—five of whom were starters, including Pacific League Player of the Year Hayley Greep. We also had a new assistant coach [Carlos Perez]."

Still, the team quickly found its footing, finishing the season with an overall record of 13-6-2. The season ended in the second round of the CIF playoffs with a loss to Apple Valley-based Granite Hills High School.

Piszyk said his team looks strong heading into next season, as all except for two players plan on returning.
