School Year Opens With New Administrative Staff

Arcadia High School students head to campus Tuesday to start the 2012-13 school year.

The will welcome the start of the 2012-13 academic year Tuesday with several fresh faces on its administrative staff — and some familiar faces in new positions.

The staff staffing shakeup started when Deputy Superintendent Robert Leri left to take the top job with the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. Here, Patch will help you get to know your new administrators a little better.

Dr. Brent Forsee, Principal,

Dr. Brent Forsee replaces David Vannasdall who was appointed to the District’s Deputy Superintendent position last spring to replace Leri.

Forsee comes to Arcadia from the Los Alamitos Unified School District in Orange County where he served as a high school principal and the Director of Assessment. He previously was an assistant principal for Glendale Unified School District and a special education teacher for San Diego Unified School District.

A Pasadena High School graduate, Forsee holds degrees in History and Special Education, as well as School Administration, from Point Loma Nazarene University. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. 

The newly-minted principal and his wife, Kim, live in Monrovia.

Danae Popovich, Principal,  

Most recently Camino Grove’s interim principal, Popovich has been an elementary teacher and Teacher on Special Assignment in Arcadia since 2004.   She previously taught in the Ontario-Montclair School District, in the Baldwin Park School District and for Pan American Christian Academy in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  She received her bachelor's degree and two master's degree from Azusa Pacific.

Kevin Hryciw, Director of Personnel Services

Hryciw has been the Director of Personnel and Administrative Services in the El Monte City School District since 2006. He previously served as principal and an assistant principal at various El Monte City Schools. He started out as a teacher and coordinator in Oregon's public schools. 

He received his bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University in Washington and his master's degree from Lewis and Clark College in Oregon.
