Watch: League Champions Apache Girls' Basketball Team Prep for Playoffs

This marks the first time in 34 years the Apache girls' basketball team has won a league championship.

The Apache girls' basketball team will face-off against Summit High School in the first round of the CIF D 1AA playoffs Saturday at Arcadia High School.

See the attached video of the team prepping for Saturday's game.

The team has had a stellar season, finishing first in the Pacific League with a 22-4 record. The Apache girls' basketball program has not held a league title since 1979, and has never won 22 games in a season.

"They worked hard," Head Coach Don Young said of the team. "We played 50 games in the off-season to get ready for the season. The girls stuck with it and it really paid off."

Though top-player Melody Chang is recovering from the flu and Team Captain Christina Huynh has a broken finger, Young said his girls will bring their A-game to Saturday's match-up against the SkyHawks.
