Decorated race horse Zenyatta has clinched yet another title: "Mom."
Called one of the most anticipated foals of 2012, the mare gave birth to a healthy colt just after 10 p.m. on Thursday at Will Farish’s Lane’s End farm in Texas.
The yet-to-be-named colt's sire is Bernardini.
In 2008, Zenyatta broke the stakes record in the 1 1/16 miles Grade 2 El Encino Stakes at with a time of 1:40.61. The plucky little filly returned to Santa Anita Park in 2009, where she beat the boys to take the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic.
Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss, have been visiting Lane’s End over the past several days in anticipation of the birth.
