Video: Five Minutes with Arcadia Football Coach Jon Dimalante

Apaches coach discusses his team's outlook as fall camp approaches; quarterback Myles Carr receives offer from Sacramento State.

Arcadia Patch got a chance to catch up with Arcadia football coach Jon Dimalante for a couple of minutes Thursday morning in front of the Apaches' weight room.

Some of the topics discussed included lessons learned from the Apaches summer practice session, which just ended last week, star quarterback Myles Carr and wide receiver and expectations for the 2011 season after the Apaches went 6-1 last year and were co-champs of the Pacific League. Dimalante also said Carr, who threw for 1,872 yards and 26 touchdowns to only four interceptions last year, recently received an offer from Sacramento State and has also garnered interest from San Jose State.

Arcadia certainly is in position to repeat last year's success. In addition to Carr and Lagace, the Apaches return their leading rusher from last year, rising junior Sheldon McKinley, who ran for a team-best 709 yards last year and six TDs.

If there is a question mark for Arcadia, though, it's on the offensive line where the Apaches have just one returning starter from last year in Ryan Campbell, an All-Pacific League selection last year. The Apaches new line will certainly be tested early in the season as they open the season with back-to-back home games against St. Francis and Monrovia.
