Arcadia Girls Finish 8th at CIF
Sophomore star Roni Yamane qualified for State Championship, placing 8th in the individual race.
Walnut — l Girls' Cross Country Team just missed a shot to compete in the state championships.
The Lady Apache's finished eighth in the CIF Southern Section Championships on Saturday with a team score of 205 points and time of 94:16. However, only the top seven teams from the Southern Section can qualify for the State Championships.
"Of course it’s disappointing, finishing eighth two years in a row," Coach Jenny Landis said. "But after looking at the results, five of the 7 girls ran (personal bests) for the Mt. SAC course today. We’ve had good training, so from that perspective, it was a success, since the girls did so well.”

Yamane initially hung back from the lead pack of runners and steadily worked her way to the top eight.
“Roni (Yamane) ran a smart race. She’s a very smart runner, and she’s only going to get better,” Landis said.
