Arcadia's Ammar Moussa Finishes 9th in Adidas HS Boys' Dream Mile

Moussa's mile time of 4:08.55 is a personal best.

Arcadia's Ammar Moussa didn't place during Saturday's adidas Grand Prix at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York City, but he managed to record a personal best time of 4 minutes, 08.55 seconds in the boys High School Dream Mile event.

Moussa's time bested his previous record of 4:10.10 set last December in New York.

Lukas Verzbicas of Orland Park, Ill., won the race with a time of 3:59.71 and made history by becoming the fifth U.S. high school student to break the 4-minute mile barrier.

Last weekend Moussa, who will run at the University of Colorado next year, competed in the 3,200-meter run at the CIF State Track and Field Finals at Buchanan High School in Clovis. Moussa finished seventh in the race in 8:56.97.
