I'll Have Another Scratched From Belmont

I'll Have Another's trainer announced on the Dan Patrick Show that the Triple Crown hopeful was scratched from the Belmont Stakes.

A tendon injury has reportedly derailed I'll Have Another's bid for the Triple Crown. The colt's trainer Doug O'Neill announced the news Friday on the Dan Patrick Show.

"I'll Have Another is officially out of the Belmont," O'Neill said on the show. "It's not tragic, but it's a huge disappointment."

I'll Have Another was on track to become racing's first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed's ride to glory in 1978.

According to the Bleacher Report, O'Neill has scheduled a press conference for Friday at 1 p.m. EST in front of Barn 2.

Dennis O'Neill, trainer Doug O'Neill's brother, told the AP the horse galloped Friday morning but the tendon seemed "kind of tender" after a veterinary scan.

O'Neill told the wire service "the horse is sound and happy, but it's not worth it."
