Video: More Trucks, Bigger Crowd at Santa Anita’s Food Truck Fest II

More than 22,000 turned out Saturday to the great race place for food, fun and racing.

Saturday’s Food Truck Festival II at saw a massive crowd of more than 22,000 turn out to sample eats at the nearly 80 food trucks parked in the Santa Anita infield.

“The second food truck festival was light years better than first," Allen Gutterman, Santa Anita Park’s vice president in charge of marketing, wrote in an e-mail to Patch. “Very well received. Great response from foodies.”

This time though, despite the crowd being even bigger, lines were noticeably shorter and as Gutterman said, “Everyone got food this time.”

In what was no surprise to those who follow the food truck industry, the longest line of the day belonged to the notoriously delicious Grilled Cheese Truck. The Lobsta Truck and the Tornado Potato Truck also had wait times approaching an hour.

Pete Siberell, Santa Anita Park's community and special events coordinator, told Patch that Santa Anita will announce plans soon for future events similar to Saturday’s Food Truck Fest.

Editor's Note: Patch participated in Saturday's Food Truck Festival II, handing out water bottles, tote bags, magnets and pens to attendees who visited the Patch tent that was stationed in the Santa Anita infield.
