Electrical Vault Fire Causes Outage in Arcadia

No official word on how widespread outage is.

An underground equipment failure with electrical equipment resulted in a electric fire Tuesday afternoon.

Fire fighters stood by until workers with Southern California Edison arrived to make repairs. Power is out in the area, but the extent of the outage has not been divulged. A call to Southern California Edison was not returned.

Eastbound traffic along Foothill from the 210 freeway, as well as lanes near the intersection, were closed while authorities worked to render the vault fire safe.

Some intersections are still without power at this hour, including Santa Anita Avenue at the 210 freeway and Santa Anita Avenue at Foothill Blvd., according to scanner reports.
