Fire Crews Extinguish Fire From Blown Transformer

Residents are still without power tonight as a result of the equipment failure.

Crews with Southern California Edison are working to restore power to Arcadia Residents after a transformer blew Wednesday evening.

The transformer explosion was reported some time after 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of Oak Meadow Road. A portion of the power pole ignited, as well as a portion of a tree Sgt Kirk Petersen of said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

It was not immediately known how many residents were without power, but at least 26 residents in the area reportedly still have no electricity, according to the Southern California Edison Web site.
