Jack Lamp to Be Honored as Arcadia's Senior of the Year

The longtime Community Center volunteer will be the guest of honor at a Rotary Club lunch in May.

Jack Lamp, a volunteer with the will be honored as the city's 2012 Senior of the Year at the annual Salute to Seniors lunch sponsored by the Arcadia Rotary Club, Tuesday, May 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Community Center. 

Here's how the city describes Lamp in its press release:

Jack has been a volunteer for the City of Arcadia at the Community Center for the past five years, providing service for the elderly population in the community. He has worked at the information and referral front desk, serves as a Center Ambassador each Wednesday afternoon, which includes hospitality, socialization, and information about  current programs and services offered to senior citizens.  In addition to his weekly volunteer duties, Jack is currently a member of the senior citizen commission which meets monthly to advise on pertinent issues, programs and services that are made available to meet the needs of the older adult community.  Jack’s volunteer contributions also extend out into the City, serving as an usher at Holy Angels Church, Methodist Hospital Rehabilitation Center, Vice President of the Highland Oaks Homeowners Association and Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets for the luncheon are $4 per person and go on sale Tuesday, April 3, for Arcadia residents and Wednesday, April 4, for non-residents.
