Methodist Hospital Brings Mardi Gras to Arcadia

Local hospital will honor longtime Arcadia residents Dave and Grace Cashion at Tuesday night gala.

There's no need to catch a plane to the Big Easy to celebrate Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday. Right here in our backyard, will be hosting its at .

No Mardi Gras would be complete without a king and queen and this year that honor will go to longtime Methodist Hospital supporters, Dave and Grace Cashion.

“The Cashions were a natural choice as this year’s honorees,” said Mike Driebe, Methodist Hospital Foundation president, in a statement released by the hospital. “Their dedication and years of support for the hospital made them the perfect selection as king and queen.”

The Cashions have lived in Arcadia for 37 years and devoted countless hours volunteering at the not-for-profit hospital: Grace serving as a member of the Mardi Gras planning committee since 2005, and Dave serving on the Foundation Board of Directors since 2004, co-chairing the Planned Giving Committee, as well as serving on the Executive Strategic Planning Committee and the Emergency Council.

Co-chairing Tuesday’s event are Jan McEachern and Cheryl Wolf, who along with a committee of 30 volunteers, have been working tirelessly for months to make sure this year’s Mardi Gras event outdoes last year’s event, which raised more than $65,000 to support nursing scholarships.

Attendees should come hungry as many local restaurants, including Cafe Massilia, Casa del Rey, , , , Melting Pot, Restaurant Devon and , will be there handing out their eats.
