Patriotic Festival Promises Fourth of July Weekend Fun

Saturday's activities involve a 600 member community parade followed by a large street fair.

This year, the City of Arcadia will be graced with its first community parade in more than 75 years.

Arcadia’s Best Foundation is putting on a which includes a huge parade with over 600 participants, including more than 30 local city, volunteer and non-profit groups.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2 on First Avenue between Duarte Road and Huntington Drive. The starting point will be at Alice Street, north of Duarte.

Among those participating in the parade will be a dozen lovely Rose Queens and Princesses from Arcadia spanning over 6 decades. Among the ladies will be 2010 Rose Queen Natalie Innocenzi, 2009 Rose Queen Courtney Lee and 1987 Queen Kristin Harris McDonald.

From the Arcadia businesses to the and several community schools, including , you’re sure to spot out several friends and colleagues on the route to wave to.

After the parade, the festivities will continue into the afternoon with more sightseeing and activities.

From 11 a.m. – 3p.m. there will be a large street fair on First Avenue from California Street to Huntington Drive. Among festivities here will be 10 gourmet food trucks, a community car show, live music and other vendors.
