Fundraiser rakes in thousands for retired race horses, Arcadia high School

Hundreds braved the rain to make the trek to on Sunday, where they enjoyed wine tasting, food samplings and quartet music at the fifth annual Santa Anita Uncorked Wine and Culinary Festival.

Sixteen beloved San Gabriel Valley restaurants — including , and — participated in this year's event. Around 35 wineries from across California brought their finest selections for attendees to taste.

The festival benefited the California (Equine) Retirement Management Account (CARMA) and . Past festivals have generated approximately $4,000 for each charity, according to Candace Chew.

Chew, who has organized the event since its inception, works in the track's graphics department and is married to trainer Mathew Chew.
